What is pSEO?

Quick Definition
(Programmatic Search Engine Optimization) is the practice of using automation, databases, and code templates to generate hundreds or thousands of "localized" landing pages at scale. Instead of writing unique content for each location, a single sales pitch is used as a shell, with variables like City, County, and GPS Coordinates swapped in automatically by a script.

In a local context, pSEO is often used as a geographical proxy Out-of-state agencies use it to carpet bomb a wide area's search results. By injecting specific local metadata into these templates, they trick search engines, using the Schema, into classifying a distant business as a Local Business.

To identify a pSEO ghost page, look for a lack of local information. If the text is generic enough to apply to any city by simply changing the name, and the site’s metadata contains spoofed coordinates or Wikipedia links to a town where the company has no physical presence, it is a programmatic facade.
